Bollywood’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan expressed his abject shock after seeing his fellow veteran actor Shashi Kapoor on wheelchair when he came to receive ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award at Filmfare Awards function.

Big B was supposed to present ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award to Shashi but did not attend the function courtesy the conflict with Mumbai Mirror. However he wrote in his blog post, “At the Filmfare Awards, when Mumbai Mirror had not appeared, the affable editor Jitesh Pillai had asked me if I would give the Lifetime achievement Award to Shashi Kapoor and I had agreed.

I missed that more than the expectation of winning the best actor award. Seeing him confined to a wheel chair, was something I could never associate with Shashi ji.”

Shashi Kapoor, that handsome gentle man. A smile on his face forever. A considerate calling on each meeting, now in this condition? Never," added Big B with dismay.

The award was given by Shabana Azmi in the end.

Amitabh reminisces association with Shashi
There was a time when Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor ruled the Indian film industry scene and worked together in memorable films like 'Trishul', 'Deewar', 'Namakhalal', 'Kabhi Kabhie', 'Kala Pathar' etc.

"Film after film we did together, Shashiji and I, shared some of my most memorable times together in the Industry. He is now my relative. His elder brother, the great Raj Kapoor's daughter Ritu's son Nikhil is married to (my daughter) Shweta,” wrote Big B on his blog post.

He also mentioned that he had talked to the actor on his birthday and then again to invite Shashi to the premier of “Paa” but he refused.

However, both stars seems to have come a long way while Big B is still giving stars of today run for their money, Shashi is confined to a wheelchair.

Amitabh skipped awards in protest
Amitabh Bachchan staying true to his word skipped the 55th Filmfare Awards over the defamatory article published by a tabloid newspaper about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Despite that, the fabulous actor still managed to rule the awards ceremony by winning the ‘Best Actor’ trophy for his mind blowing performance in “Paa.”
