Shiva Sena to spoil Rahul's Mumbai tour

Mumbai, February 5 -- Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is slated to fly to Mumbai amid mounting rivalry with Shiv Sena.

Mumbai on high alert for Rahul’s visit
Mumbai, is on high alert as it awaits the arrival of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

Police and state administration have been reinforced to ensure Rahul's visit goes off without any disruption.

The war of words spewed venom that broke out earlier this week between Rahul and Shiv Sena-Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

The war, now turned uglier, was over the issue of North Indians in Maharashtra and Mumbai-for Marathis.

Mumbai belongs to all Indians
Rahul Gandhi recently announced that Mumbai is a part of India and belongs to all Indians, while Shiv Sena ignoring the people of the city was alleging that Mumbai is only a part of Maharashtrians.

Rahul’s statement has only managed to earn him relentless hammering from the Shiv Sena and MNS who have designated him names such as "Romeputra" (Son of Rome) and "Italian prince".

Shiv Sena Chief, Bal Thackeray has even warned to show black flags to Mr.Gandhi.

Considering the extent of threats and the face-off with the Shiv Sena, the Congress had planned for Rahul's security weeks in advance.

As stated by the Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, “He is a SPG protectee. Both the SPG and the state police will provide security. So we are not worried about it.”

Rahul's itinerary
The Congress General Secretary will be arriving at the Santa Cruz airport at 1030 hrs IST amidst tight security.

During his day’s visit as part of the membership drive for the Youth Congress, Mr. Gandhi will interact with and meet college students at the Bhaidas hall in Vile Parle at 1100 hrs IST.

He will then head to Ramabai Nagar in Ghatkopar, to meet with the youth from the nearby slums. Rahul will also be garlanding a BR Ambedkar statue. After completing his scheduled programme he will leave for Pondicherry at around 1430 hrs IST.

Shiv Sena ruins for Rahul
However, Shiv Sena has undoubtedly pledged to ruin the six-hour long visit to the maximum.

It is believed that they have asked their party workers to greet Rahul at every corner with black flags.

However, Maharastra Minister of State of Home, Ramesh Bagwe confirmed and said,

“Our government will take strict action against those who disrupt law and order no matter which political party they belong to.”

It had been a demanding week for Shiv Sena as they have been audaciously practicing the politics of hate by targeting everyone from Shah Rukh Khan to Mukesh Ambani to Rahul Gandhi.

However, the state government is fully prepared to stop this menace of any violence before it spreads.
