Amitabh Bachchan—brand ambassador of ‘Swarnim Gujarat’

Ahmedabad, February 4 -- The Gujarat government has found a perfect brand ambassador in Amitabh Bachchan. The legendary actor will unveil the state’s golden jubilee year celebration—the ‘Swarnim Gujarat Festival’ on May 1.

The actor will be featured throughout the golden jubilee year in television and print ads, promoting the Gir lions, white desert of Kutch, garba, temples of Somnath, Dwarka and Ambaji along with Gandhi and Buddha related tourism.

Narendra Modi gives charge to Big B
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Singh Modi, who is known for not letting anyone share limelight, gave a surprise with Big B taking the charge.

Big B in his acceptance letter to Modi said, “You have very graciously considered my appointment as brand ambassador for Gujarat. I accept the offer with great humility. I hope we will be able to work together for the betterment of Gujarat.”

Modi, went one step further and exempted Big B’s movie ‘Paa’ of tax in the state. Apparently, Big B is going to promote Brand Gujarat for free.

Modi attempting to hide his mistakes?
The BJP-led government of Gujarat might be thrilled with Bachchan’s decision to be state’s brand ambassador. However, the opposition is busy disapproving Big B’s move.

Rajeev Shukla, AICC secretary and coordinator for Gujarat, in New Delhi said, "Amitabh Bachchan should not misuse his celebrity status and become the brand ambassador for vested interests.”

Shukla added further that the state governments are not corporate entities in need of brand ambassadors to improve image.

Even AICC secretary and in-charge of Gujarat P Sudhakar Reddy seemed miffed at the development and accused Modi of trying to “hide his failure.”

"By appointing Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador of Gujarat, Modi wants to hide his failures on all counts.

This shows Modi is realizing the fact that he is losing his grip over the people and making a desperate attempt to improve his image before the people ahead of the civic and panchayat bodies’ polls due later this year," said Reddy.

R. Jagannathan has rightly said, “secularist have proved that what they care about is not justice, but their own vanity”. “India’s humbug secularists have personalized the definition of secularism for narrow political ends”. “Why is anyone who promotes Gujarat an instant target for secularists? This is ideological tyranny”.

Unfortunately in India, only those are counted as secular who speak for or create show to speak for minority.

Can anyone explain who is communal and who is secular? Of course congress has proved pseudo-secular in many occasions earlier. But, this time they have proved communal and also once again proved their dirty vote bank tactics/politics. Every one blame or rather fashion to blame BJP as communal party, but congress is also communal party. How?

They think that by highlighting Gujarat riots on regular interval and this is what they are doing since 2002, congress may not get room in Gujarat but they think of getting benefit in the rest of the India. Some congress leader even told this earlier. By this way actually they spread communalism, isn’t it? But, they forget one thing. You can fool the people for the couple of occasion, but not all the time.

Looking to the history since independence, there are so many violence occurred even bigger than Gujarat and even some of them state sponsored also, but no SC intervene, no SIT formed, no outcry by so called secularist and Human activist. Even in Gujarat also in 1985, much larger scale state sponsored violence was their but no one even noticed that. What kind of justice this is going on?

Congress is asking from Bachhan to clarify his stand on 2002 riots. This shows the way of congress thinking that riots can be justifiable and this shows the communal mind of congress actually. It’s question of common sense that any form of riots communal/non-communal are always condemnable. So, what’s the reason to seek clarification from Bachhan or anyone else?
