Chetan Bhagat is sorry

Ahmedabad, January 9 -- Chetan Bhagat, who made record breaking profits from his bestseller ‘Five Point Someone’, thanks to the controversy with the makers of the movie ‘3 Idiots’, is in Ahmedabad currently.

While interacting with the students of IIM-A, which is his MBA alumnus, Bhagat has reportedly apologized to his fans for the controversy and not to the team of Aamir Khan starrer film, ‘3 Idiots’, as everyone thought.

Bhagat affirms, “I had, in fact, said sorry to all my fans and readers who were disturbed by the controversy over my not getting due credit for the story of the film.”

“I did not want my fans to be upset by all that was happening; hence, I apologized,” he continues.

Bhagat’s fans hate Aamir Khan?
According to reports, Bhagat accused the makers of ‘3 idiots’ for not giving him enough credit for the story of the film that he claims to be a screen adaptation of his book ‘Five Point Someone’.

But later it was rumored that he apologized to the ‘3 Idiots’ team as he did not want to upset his fans who wrote to him saying that they hated Aamir Khan for landing Bhagat in the controversy.

“But I have no problems with Aamir. So I said publicly that I loved Aamir Khan,” adds Bhagat.

It may be noted though that the characters in the movie are quite different from those in Bhagat’s book and only parts of the book have been borrowed for the movie, with prior consent from Bhagat.

Aamir Khan and Chetan Bhagat are neighbors
The buzz is that Chetanb Bhagat is soon going to reside in Waheeda Building in Pali Hill, Bandra that coincidently neighbors Marina Apartments, Aamir Khan’s current residence.

When asked about his relation with Aamir now that they are to become neighbors, Bhagat jokingly answers, “Oh, I would ask him for a bowl of dahi (curd) as neighbours frequently do.”

Chetan Bhagat to become a one-day professor
Bhagat has been invited by a marketing professor at the IIM-A campus as a visiting faculty for a day to interact with the students.

Anand Jaiswal, a professor at the institute says, “Yes, Chetan Bhagat had visited us as an alumnus today. However, we just had an informal discussion on this, because he is an alumnus and has a good professional background.”

“Moreover, he was also involved in books on marketing strategies. So, I may decide to explore the opportunity of inviting him as a visiting faculty or just to discuss marketing strategies with the students. Nothing has been finalised as of now,” he concludes.
