Amitabh Bachchan in 2009: More downs than ups
Mumbai, December14 -- He might be 67, but Amitabh Bachchan still rules the hearts of millions.

Mumbai, December14 -- He might be 67, but Amitabh Bachchan still rules the hearts of millions.

Having had a mixed bag of luck this year, the actor when asked what 2009 meant to him, exclaimed, "Gosh, what a year this has been — a few ups, and a few downs ... more downs really! Years, months, days... they rush through at such speed, it’s impossible to keep an account of them."

Undeniably the most hard working man in Bollywood, Mr. Bachchan has proved again this year no matter what the genre is, he can deliver with élan.

Amitabh’s 2009 career moves
Amitabh Bachchab is legitimately the best actor in Bollywood and none of his choices seem far-fetched.

Even though the fantasy film Aladdin collapsed at the box office, his production company ABCL’s release Paa managed to gross-up 32 crore rupees on Dec.12 alone! These were the only two releases of Big B this year.

Though Amitabh has finished his work on Johnny Mastana, Rann and Teen Patti in June itself, the release dates had to be put off to a later date because of the multiplex strike.

His work had to be put-off for a while in the beginning of the year when his pal and Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh fell ill.

But the actor kept himself occupied this year with television shows, grand celebrations of his father’s 102nd birth anniversary, and promotion of his film Paa.

Bachchan’s Aladdin slips; Paa a soaring success
Bollywood stars are measured by their ability to draw in crowds at the opening day. But this year though there have been many big budgeted films, who have failed miserably at the box office.

It is noted that the year 2009 has been good for small-budgeted films which not only won applause for their storyline but also for the performances of its actor.

A lot of films sank without a trace this year, the most surprising one was Aladdin.

However Bachchan’s latest film Paa, has managed to command box-office attention, making it a huge commercial success.

The thespian’s portrayal of a child inflicted with a rare disease called Progeria and his demise in the film has made the film succeed.
