Mumbai, September 1: All the female fans of actor Imran Khan are in for a heartbreak as the chocolate boy of B-Town has proposed to his girlfriend, Avantika Malik, for marriage.

Reportedly, the actor planned a surprise bash for his lady love on her birthday on July 18. He proposed to her in typical filmy style by kneeling on his knees and she readily accepted.

The couple has been very candid about their love life and the lovers are always spotted hand in hand at all social gatherings.

Says Imran Khan, “Yes, my relation with Avantika is true. But we're planning to have an apposite ceremony later, right now it's just for us and our families.”

"I feel whoever you are in a relationship with, needs to feel like an important part of your life. The soul mate is very important support system. I'm glad to have her by my side," he adds.

Not officially engaged yet
The formal announcement of the engagement was supposed to be made in January 2010, but their celebrity friends leaked the story and so now everyone knows.

The news got revealed on the launch of Arjun Rampal’s nightclub in Delhi where the couple were also invited. What’s more is that the host Arjun himself announced the news to everyone present at the launch.

Everyone present at Arjun’s launch party congratulated the couple on learning about their engagement plans, but the wedding date is still a big secret.

The lovers’ tale
Imran Khan and Avantika Malik are childhood friends and have been dating for the last six years.

A close friend of Imran informs, “Imran and Avantika have been dating for the last 6 years and are madly in love with each other.”

“So much that after his first release when half of the women in the country were going crazy about him, he did not deny his relationship with Avantika like many actors usually do.”

It may be noted that Avantika is the daughter of TV18 head, Vandana Malik, and has also dated Ranbir Kapoor, another heartthrob of Tinsel Town.
