Roadies drive away leaving MTV with a flat tire

The roadies have accomplished all they could on the show, and are now back in their respective cities, basking in the glory of their slightest brush with fame, trying to look all high-and-mighty as a little kid recognizes them on the street and gladly sharing their experience with local dailies. MTV however is left with nothing to do, nothing to fill the 7 to 8 time slot on Sunday evenings and it comes up with some lousy ‘Roadies Awards’ to bore us to the core.

The recession has hit us, and hit us bad. Even good entertainment is compromised.

I could stand Ayushmann Khurana and his sad humor no more than 15 minutes. After the first three awards – the double crosser, the best roadie, the funniest roadie – as the show went into its first commercial break, I just put down the TV remote and straightaway rushed for this write-up.

What’s with MTV? It claims to be the channel for the youth. How paltry does it consider the youth to be? After all those star-tv saas-bahu awards (where they even acclaim the best vamp – one with the loudest make-up and cruelest intentions), how much worse can you get?

What should we be expecting next? Probably a 5-century old ‘Baa’ hosting a show on MTV.

Oh, but MTV does not like to predictable. Do not expect, they often say.

Thank you for the warning. We should have not expected entertainment on MTV; we should have not expected some good music, we should have not even expected anything that is worth our time.

You bumpkins can pat your backs. You have succeeded in beating our expectations with those lame awards.

While I’m at it, let me also laud you guys for taking the show where it is today (you understand sarcasm, I hope). In a bid to get more and more unpredictable Roadies has lost its essence. I can still recollect the fist season, when this innovative show beautifully displayed a road-journey with the participants actually looking like ‘Roadies’ and not requiring to act like warriors.

Being fickle and erratic does not make the show any more exciting. Infact, the repeated returns of the ousted contestants and the unwanted twists only make it dreary. What fun is it to watch someone being voted out when you know he’d be given a second chance any time?

If you noted, the swearing and the catfights have augmented with each season and somehow the show seems to portray nothing better than the malnourished freedom of misguided youth.
