Story-line
‘The Dirty Picture’ tells the story of a village girl Reshma (Vidya Balan), who runs away from her husband’s house and goes to Kollywood (Tamil Cinema) hoping to become a star. She tries to get a role in movies, but is insulted by a director for being unattractive and useless.
Earlier, Silk Smitha’s brother had sent two legal notices to Balaji Telefilms. However, after not getting any response from the filmmakers, he moved the writ petition to the High Court.
A source close to the unit admitted that Akshay and John are portraying the characters of male strippers in 'Desi Boyz' and that could be the reason Censor board decided to give it an ‘A’ certificate.
“The makers of 'Desi Boyz' were expecting a U/A certificate since it's a big-budget film and with Akshay and John in the cast they were largely targeting the family audience and youth as well. Unfortunately for them, the film has been given an Adult certification," said the source.
Issuing a statement, Balaji Motion Pictures stated with reference to the legal notice that the film is a work of fiction, based on the romantic journey of an actress and the inspiration behind 'The Dirty Picture' are the strugglers of the 80’s who wanted to make it big on the silver screen.
Buzz has it that Veteran musician Bappi Lahiri has apparently been smitten by the actress’s sensuous act in 'The Dirty Picture'. The Bengali musician who has composed the song ‘Ooh La La’ for ‘The Dirty Picture’ admitted that Vidya looks glamorous in the film.
“Before the song, I don’t think any of her fans could have ever imagined her looking as sexy and glamourous as this,” stated the musician.
