Yeh Saali Zindagi: The Review

Credits:

Director: Sudhir Mishra

Cast: Irrfan Khan, Arunoday Singh, Chitrangada Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari

Sudhir Mishra's latest offering ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ is a deliciously romantic thriller from the master craftsman. The writer-director rides on love and crime in a film, where violence is packed with a brand of humor.

It’s clear that Mishra’s intention in his latest outing was to make a crime comedy film that churns out romance.

‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ has too many increasing turns and knots to keep pace as the story is sprinkled with multiple interesting characters, sub plots and voiceovers that make the film vaguely distinctive.

However, the sheer vividness of ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ is that unpredicted twist of storytelling, which is not revealed at once, but is subtly skinned in several coatings to unfold gradually.

'Yeh Saali Zindagi' features 22 liplocks; surpasses Mallika's 'Khwahish' record

It's not an exaggeration, but a fact that the film features 22 kisses between protagonist Arunoday Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari. Interestingly, the film has surpassed the record of 17 smooches set by 'Khwahish', featuring Mallika Sherawat and Himanshu Malik.

Director's take on the kissing scenes
Commenting on the 22 kissing scenes in the film, the director of the film Sudhir Mishra said, “Aditi and Arunoday play a young couple based in Delhi. They kiss every time they quarrel. And they quarrel a lot.”

My friendship with Chitrangada is purely platonic—Sudhir

While talking at a press event recently, when a reporter asked him about his rumored obsession with the much-married actress, Mishra replied that what they share is a “great friendship of an actor and a director.”

He added that media is making unnecessary fuss about them as there’s nothing going on between them and their friendship is purely platonic.

Reports that sparked controversy
However, sources close to the filmmaker paint a very different picture of his relation with Chitrangada, who’s married to Indian golfer Jyoti Randhawa.
