Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, the youngest captain of the Indian cricket team, and one of its most charismatic players, died at the age of 70. Pataudi was suffering from a lung infection, in which the passage of the oxygen to the lungs is less than normal. He lost his battle against this severe infection, which had plagued him since August, at a Delhi hospital, on Thursday at 5.55 pm.

Tiger Pataudi, as he was fondly called, played 46 tests between 1961 and 1975. He scored 2,793 runs at an average of 34.91.
