Hello Darling: A shockingly comical error

‘Hello Darling’ is all about its credible characters, the conspicuous loopholes in the story-line and the incompetence of the disappointing screenplay.

Hello Darling

Director : Manoj Tiwari

Producer : Ashok Ghai

Cast : Gul Panag, Isha Koppikar, Celina Jaitley, Javed Jaffrey, Divya Dutta, Chunky Pandey, Seema Biswas, Asawari Joshi, Mukesh Tiwari, Vrajesh Hirjee

However, it’s a fact that rib tickling comedies are not easy to pull off and one must give credit for debutant director Manoj Tiwari and his crew to have attempted this intricate genre.

This surreal romantic comedy film, which opens in theatres today, stars Gul Panaag, Eesha Koppikhar Narang and Celina in the lead role.

Speaking about the characters, these three office revolutionaries manage to teach a lesson to their sleazy obnoxious sexist boss, who does nothing but make plans to bed them.

Eventually, the three kidnap their male chauvinistic boss and take over the fashion house for a few days, rewrite new office rules and in the process, gives their organization a nice facelift.

‘Hello Darling’, a remake of Kamal Hassan’s Tamil movie ‘Magalir Mattum’, is confounding and doesn’t match up to the 16 years old movie, which is refreshing and enjoyable at any point of time.

Story-line
The movie starts off with Mansi Joshi (played by Gul Pang), who dreams of making it big one day, landing herself a job as the creative head in a large fashion corporation.

On her first day, she meets her colleagues Candy (played by Celina Jaitley), who works as a PA and Satvati Chaudhary (Eesha Koppikar), a novice.

These three office colleagues make an attractive team, and start bonding well.

However, one fine day things takes a different funny twist, when Candy assumes that she had forgetfully slipped her boss Harddick (played by Javed Jaffrey) with doses of rat poison in his coffee drink, mistaking it as a an artificial sweetener.

However, the boss lands himself in the hospital not for drinking the coffee but for falling down from his chair and becoming unconscious.

Not knowing this Candy tells her colleagues about the dose of poison. Mansi and Satvati believe that Candy has indeed killed Harddick, and make plans to cover up the crime.

The next day when these three discover that he was not debilitated by poison, surprisingly things take a bizarre turn, when their superior comes to know about the episode through his nosy personal assistant.

Harddick devises to black mail these three women and asks them to spend a few days with him.

Interestingly, these three sisterly friends decide to kidnap their boss and imprison him in his own home. Later these women try to bring radical changes to their organization, in Harddick’s absence.

Bottom –line
The director has gone wrong with too much of unessential cinematic ingredients that have been added to the film.

Overall, ‘Hello Darling’ with its moments of few good laughs has nothing great in it.
