Aisha: A fun youth film

'Aisha', an adaptation of Jane Austen’s bestseller classic novel 'Emma', is a youth film to the core. The movie takes the audience in the world of the elite class and is a female-protagonist movie that centres on Aisha, played by the Masakali girl Sonam Kapoor.

Starring: Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Cyrus Sahukar, Amrita Puri, Ira Dubey, Lisa Haydon

Director: Rajshree Ojha

Producer: Anil Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor

Music composer: Amit Trivedi

Genre: Romantic comedy

Coming to the storyline of the movie, writer Devika Bhagat has worked hard in getting the characters out of the novel and onto the streets of the modern-day Delhi.

The movie revolves around Aisha, who is a chic and upbeat Delhi girl. She manages to look good in whatever she wears. Her best friend Pinky played by Ira Dubey, also has similar features. Aisha is very nosy and makes everybody’s business her business, but somehow every time she tries helping somebody, she ends up in confusion and chaos.

Aisha plans to set up her small town buddy Shefali played by Amrita Puri with Arjun (Abhay Deol). But Arjun, an investment banker, does not like Aisha’s habit of poking a nose in everything.

The first half of the film shows everybody loving Aisha except Arjun and the second sees everybody criticizing her for her ‘social service’ nature. So what happens finally, does Aisha change herself or does everyone accept her the way she is? Watch the movie to get the full details.

Performances of the cast
Though the movie centers on Aisha and Kapoor gets a good chance to prove her, her acting looks artificial. She fails to impress much though her laughter is infectious. Abhay Deol looks good with Sonam Kapoor but somehow he does not fit in and seems wasted in his film, though he is good to watch and gives a good performance.

A performance worth watching out for is Amrita Puri’s as she is brilliant. She portrays Shefali very well and her acting is impressive.

The music of the film has already become a rage with the nation and ‘Suno Aisha’ and ‘Gal Mithi Mithi bol’ are the best tracks of the movie that are already on everybody’s lips.

Overall the movie is a must watch for all fun-loving youth and gives a perfect sneak-peek in the life of the Delhi’s rich and spoilt youth.
