Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) plays an NRI who visits Delhi with his grandmother (Waheeda Rahman). Roshan tries to understand the complexities of relations and gets infatuated towards Bittu Sharma (Sonam Kapoor).
First half of the film is interesting as it introduces multiple characters and their stories. But shortly, the characters and their stories start mixing up, audience are left topsy turvy in the multi-dimensional narrative. Surprisingly, it fails to build the brilliant narration that Rakeysh presented in his last film “Rang De Basanti”.
Mehra with his cameraman Binod Pradhan was brilliant in capturing the perfect buzz of Delhi. A.R Rehman’s music is, as usual, great with some rocking numbers like “masakali”, “ishq mohobbat pyar” and "Genda Phool".
Though Abhishek Bachchan has tried his best, and his acting is better than his earlier films, his American accent was awful. Sonam Kapoor’s role was small but fine; she carried her character well.
Waheeda Rehman, Om Puri and Rishi Kapoor were outstanding. Others including Raghubir Yadav, Pavan Malhotra, Supriya Pathak Shah, Deepak Dobriyal, Divya Dutta, Vijay Raaz, Tanvi Azmi and Atul Kulkarniare have done great job.
“Delhi 6” is a different film with different flavor.
