Harman’s Victory – the Review

Harman Baweja in 'Victory'

Set against the backdrop of the cricked pitch, Harman Baweja’s second film as an actor, ‘Victory,’ is about a cricketer’s rise-fall-rise in which no expense has been spared to make it look authentic and real.

Although Ajit Pal Mangat makes his debut as a director with Victory, he exudes a strong sense of confidence. A passionate man, he has made a film on the nation’s craze and obsession– cricket and it’s his passion for the game that has made him rope in 44 cricketers from around the world.

“I am a huge cricket fan and I had never got to see the kind of film I wanted to see on the sport. So I decided to make the film myself.

“And I am a passionate man, passionate about the game, and a passionate man never plays it safe,” says Ajit laughingly.

Harman starts afresh with Victory, his second film after his debut film “Love Story 2050” failed at the box office, dashing all his hopes of making it big. He seems to have well-learnt the lesson that ‘failures are the pillars of success.’

The guy has been working hard and is back to make a comeback with a ‘bang.’ No wonder he has a host of upcoming projects with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aneez Bazmi and Ashutosh Gowarikar in his kitty.

Harman shares screen space and a fine chemistry with Amrita Rao, the leading lady of the film. With cricket as the theme of the story line, the story revolves around a small town boy from Jaisalmer who aspires to become the best cricketer in the world.

No doubt, the film is, indeed, typical, topical and quite predictable, for it depicts the phoenix-like rise once again, when the victory seems quite difficult. However, that does not take the credit away from the film, in being a thorough entertainer, in any way.

Additionally, the film has some very touching moments involving Harman and his other two important characters in his life, his father and his lady-love.

So, go for it. You are sure to enjoy this film in which the 24-year-old hunk of Rajasthan not only manages to get a berth in the Indian Cricket team but also gets to play in the finals of the Champion’s trophy against Aussies, and, finally, win the trophy for his country too through his stellar performance in the match.

“Every film comes with its own destiny, I hope that victory is victorious and everyone likes the film,” says Priyanka Chopra.

Will Harman bounce back to victory as a hero with his second film Victory? Well, let’s hope for his “Victory”!
