Most of you people might have known about the UTV group. But, do you people know the mastermind behind this group? Well, it’s time you got to know about the brains behind this group, Mr. Ronnie Screwvala.
This Parsi chap was born in Mumbai, and was the CEO and founder of the UTV Group. Within 15 years of its inception, it grew into a Pan Asia Media Company. His career kicked off with his introduction of cable TV in Mumbai. Within a short span of 3 years, the cable TV achieved thousands of subscribers in his area.
With the sweet taste of success from the cable TV, he started making commercials and films. Screwvala got into producing daily soap operas and ultimately moved into the silver screen. A couple of his famous works include Lifeline and Shanti. He obtained his graduation from Mumbai’s Cathedral and John Cannon School and Sydenham College of Commerce and stepped onto the Media world.
In 2004, UTV established a channel especially for the children called Hungama TV and later, a business news channel UTVi. He has been part of a couple of international movies, ‘The Namesake’ and ‘The Happening’. His banner UTV Motion pictures bagged the Filmfare award for the best movie for two movies ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’.
