Rajkumar Kohli is one of the illustrious producer/director of the late 70s and 80. This multi-talented filmmaker is widely accredited for his style of producing movies with an ensemble cast.
Some of the frequent celebrities he favors to star in his movies includes names like Dharmendra, Sunil Dutt, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha and actresses including Reena Roy and a few others.
He released his first puff of air on Sept. 14, 1930 and is 80 years old at present. To begin with, he started his filming career as a producer and later on tried his luck as a director.
‘Shart’ was the first movie released under his production banner. After tasting success with a couple of movies under his production, he tried his hand in direction. His first directorial venture was ‘Kahani Hum Sub Ki’ released in 1973.
During the 70s and 80s, Rajkumar’s films ‘Nagin’, ‘Raj Tilak’ and ‘Jaani Dushman’ took the Bollywood film industry by storm and both these films not only cashed in literally but also depicted Rajkumar’s potential as a versatile director.
Kohli junior, Arman Kohli was launched under his father’s direction in the year 1992 titled ‘Virodhi’, which unfortunately was not appreciated by the audience. After a hiatus, he re-launched his son in the movie ‘Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani’ (2002) in the genre of his smash hit movies of the yesteryears but the film was heavily disparaged as one of the horrible movies ever made. The film featured scenes clichéd from various Hollywood blockbusters like ‘The Matrix’, ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, ‘The Mummy’ and ‘Mission: Impossible II’. Since then, he has not stepped into his shoes till date.
