The victim, whose identity was not disclosed to the public, was believed to have died from drug overdose.
According to police spokeswoman Julianne Sohn, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call about 6 p.m. Tuesday and arrived in the 3800 block of Beverly Ridge Drive in Sherman Oaks to find the body. The body has been transported to the Los Angeles county coroner for autopsy.
The death of the woman, said to be in her 30s, is being investigated as a possible suicide, county coroner's officials said Wednesday.
"We are investigating the case as a possible suicide," said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
TMZ.com quoted the victim’s parents as saying that their daughter was Paula’s 'big fan' and that her death may be from a drug overdose. The Hollywood celebrity Web site also cited police sources as saying that the investigators think the victim had stalked Abdul and that police had been to the house "numerous times before" to deal with her.??
The Ventura County Sheriff's Department that was aware of the woman's interest in Abdul tipped LAPD officials to the woman's possible whereabouts.
Abdul, a Grammy award winning singer and former Laker girl, is best known in recent years as a judge on the popular "American Idol" TV show.
The Californian singer/choreographer started her career as a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 1980s. She began to make inroads in pop music when she was hired as an assistant dance director on the Jacksons' Victory tour, which led to a job choreographing Janet Jackson's videos for Control. Since then she’s choreographed for Television and Films and come out with hit music albums like “Forever your Girl” which also happens to be her debut record. The year 2002 brought her huge fame as the very nice, encouraging and very often, fickled judge on the highly rated television series American Idol.
She got married to Emilio Estevez in 1992 but separated in 1994 over issue of children. In 1996 she married sportswear designer Brad Beckerman, they divorced in 1998 citing irreconcilable differences.
Paula was rumored to have a secret affair with an ex-American Idol participant, Corey Clark who claims to have had sex with her.
Simon Cowell has also admitted that he fancies the fellow judge but the two are also known for their heated arguments on the show.
