Legendary actor Dev Anand’s ashes immersed in Godavari

The ashes of legendary actor Dev Anand, who had died in London following a cardiac arrest on December 3, were immersed in the holy waters of Godavari in Nashik by his son Suneil on Wednesday.

After reaching Mumbai this afternoon from London, Suneil along with Mohan Churiwala, a close aide of late actor, left for Nasik to immerse Dev Saab’s ashes.

The late actor was cremated in London last week. His family and close friends were present for the last rites.

Also, a condolence prayer meeting for Dev Saab was held on the same day at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London.

A memorial service for the Evergreen legendary actor will also be held in Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai on December 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The studio has been chosen for the condolence prayer meeting for sentimental reasons, as Anand's several films were shot there.

Speaking about the memorial service, Churiwala said, "A memorial service will be held at Mehboob Studios in suburban Bandra on Friday. It will be held there because a make-up room of Dev saab is still at the studio. Also, there is some emotional connect as he had shot a lot of films over there.”

“It is being organised there because of the sentimental reasons. The studio has his personal make-up room and which has been kept just like that. It still has his costumes, his make-up kit, etc.”
