Making comedy is not my cup of tea--Bhansali

Talented filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is in league of his own when it comes to producing serious/romantic films. However, as per the filmmaker, he might never make a comedy as it’s not his cup of tea.

“I think it is difficult to make a full-fledged comedy film. I don't know will I ever make it. I never plan about my movies…I cannot say what will be my next,” said Bhansali at a press event, when questioned, if he has any plans to produce a comedy flick in future.

Bhansali added, his films at times could be best described as serious but he always tries his level best to make them as entertaining as possible for audiences.

“I like taking up subjects that are closer to life…to which audience can relate but in an entertaining way. I don't want to bore my audiences,” said the filmmaker.

Till date, Bhansali has five films to his credit, 'Khamoshi' (1996), 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'(1999), 'Devdas' (2002), 'Black' (2005) and 'Saawariya' (2007).

On ‘Guzaarish’
Bhansali might not think he’s good at making comedies, but he’s all set to release another one of his serious issue-based romantic films.

His latest film ‘Guzaarish’ explores controversial issue of euthanasia (mercy killing) and is ready to hit theatres on Nov. 19.

When asked, why he decided to explore the sensitive yet controversial issue, Bhansali replied, “Euthanasia is a subject that has never been handled in Indian cinema before. It is a very important issue. With big stars we made an entertaining film that still talks about the sensitive issue.”

However, he added, “We are not propagating it...we are not taking sides."

In the film, Hrithik Roshan is portraying the role of a magician, who becomes a paraplegic after a magic trick goes wrong. Aishwarya Rai will be seen in the role of a nurse.

No change in style
Except ‘Saawariya’, almost all other films by filmmaker has managed to win audiences' heart.

So, when asked, if he ever considered changing his filmmaking style after that one failure, Bhansali replied, “I am too obstinate to do that.”
