Versatility matters
Angelina Jolie is a versatile actress who does all kinds of roles from drama to action. She has worked in various films like ‘A Mighty Heart’, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ etc.
The former flick earned her various nominations and critical praise. She won an Oscar for her work in ‘Girl Interrupted’ in 2000 and a best actress nomination for last year’s ‘Changeling’.
Most of the share of Jolie’s income came from her action film ‘Wanted’ but there was a large contribution from her work in ‘Salt’.
The other deserving spots
Anniston, on the other hand, earned most of her greens from her work in the romantic comedy ‘Marley and Me’ and her upcoming film ‘Baster’.
At the number 3 spot came in Meryl Streep, who banked $24 million, most of which came from her role in ‘Mamma Mia’, while Sarah Jessica Parker was ranked fourth with $23 million in earnings contributed by the movie version of TV series ‘Sex and the City’.
Rounding up the ‘top five’ elite club came in Cameron Diaz with $20 million as earnings.
As proclaimed by Forbes.com
Forbes.com said that it spoke to the agents, managers, producers and lawyers to work out what actresses were paid for movies they are shooting at present and what pay they might have earned after a movie hit the theaters.
Money earned from perfume or clothing lines was also taken into account.
"As is still typical for Hollywood, our actresses earned significantly less than their male counterparts," Forbes.com said. They were referring to the earnings of the highest paid male actor Harrison Ford, who made an eye bulging $65 million.
