No ‘Aarakshan’ promotion in Lucknow

The ‘Raajneeti’ fame filmmaker Prakash Jha, who is coming up with his new film ‘Aarakshan’ on Aug. 12, has been reportedly denied permission by the U.P. government to promote his upcoming film in Lucknow.

As per megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who plays a key role in the film, the U.P. administration is of the opinion that as ‘Aarakshan’ deals with reservations, which is a very sensitive social issue, its promotion may have an ill-effect on the law and order of the city.

Talking about being barred from promoting the film in Lucknow, a disheartened Big B tweeted, “Feel disappointed that we are not allowed to promote film in UP Lucknow...admin feels will excite and cause law and order problem."

"They say it is a sensitive subject and do not want us to enter the city even...without even seeing the film, duly Censored?? Strange,” added the star.

Police instructed to arrest the ‘Aarakshan’ team on entering the city

Mr. Bachchan further revealed that the police officials have been given instructions to arrest the ‘Aarakshan’ team on entering the city to promote their film.

"The administration does not allow us to enter the city...unofficial reports by police say they have instructions to arrest us if we do," posted the Shehanshah of Bollywood.

Consequently, the ‘Aarakshan’ team has made all arrangements to fly directly to Delhi now.

My film is not political at all—Prakash Jha
Upset with the swirling controversies about his film, the ‘Aarakshan’ filmmaker Prakash Jha cleared the airs by stating that his film chronicles the status of higher education in our country and not politics.

Speaking about his venture, Jha, as quoted in PTI, said, “My film is not political at all; it is based on the status of higher education in our country today. But I don't know there is some kind of apprehension; there are leaders who are worried about the outcome of the film.

“Nobody has contacted me, or asked me to show the film. The Censor Board has already seen it and approved it.”

‘Aarakshan’ stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Manoj Bajpai in pivotal roles.
