Recently, two unheard and unreleased songs sung by Mohammad Rafi and composed by Madan Mohan have been released to mark the death anniversaries of the legendary musical duo.
Rafi and Mohan collaborated on some of the greatest hits in Bollywood and gave us evergreen hits like ‘Meri awaaz suno’, ‘Teri ankhon ke siwa’, ‘Kabhi naa kabh’i, ‘Yeh duniya ye mehfil’ and ‘Ab tumhare hawale wattan saathiyon’.
Two rare songs of Rafi-Madan Mohan released
These songs were recorded in their lifetime, but remained unreleased as the respective films were shelved.To mark the death anniversaries of the legendary musical duo, the songs have been released and are available on the website www.madanmohan.in.
‘Ya illahi, ek haseena ne machai hai tabahi’, is a number sung by Rafi in his inimitable style, which was probably recorded in the mid 60s. The song is a situational number, located from the composer's master spools.
While ‘Har sapna ek din toote, is duniya mein’ is a philosophical number recorded in the early 70s. It is a tune in Madan Mohan's unique style and has been sung with great emotion by Rafi.
Shammi Kapoor remembers the legendary Mohammad Rafi
Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor, some of whose most memorable songs like 'Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe' were in the voice of Mohammad Rafi, remembered the legendary singer and admitted that he is incomplete without Rafi.
Shammi Kapoor said, "I am incomplete without Mohammad Rafi. I used to often go for the recoding of my song, which was sung by Mohammad Rafi, only because I used to like telling him how I would perform on this song on screen so that he can sing it that way.”
He further added, "When I got to know about his demise, I was in tears. The person who actually came to me to give the news said that Shammiji, you have lost your voice."
