Mohammed Rafi’s son to launch musical academy on legend’s name

According to the latest buzz in the music industry, as a tribute to legendary singer Mohammed Rafi, his son Shahid Rafi will be announcing the launch of a music academy on singer’s 30th death anniversary on July 31.


Shahid has joined hands with 11 people from the music industry to launch this academy and they are hopeful that many others will be joining them in their initiative soon.

“We have been getting requests from all over the world through various forums and fan clubs of dad’s to open a music academy in his memory. His fans want to be associated with it. We thought this would be a nice platform for us to take his legacy forward. I want Rafi saab to be remembered as long as music is part of this world,” said Shahid Rafi.

He added “We have zeroed-down on a place in Lokhandwala, Andheri. We will renovate the place and then start the academy. We are planning to get prominent people from the music industry to come and teach students there. Apart from this, we will host shows in honor of musical legends, which are not amongst us now and will also felicitate members of their families.”

UPS of the music academy
Reportedly, the major UPS of the academy is that well-known singer-sisters Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle will be sharing their musical knowledge with the young talent in the academy.

The academy also boosts of roping in names like Andalib Majrooh Sultanpuri (Majrooh Sultanpuri's son), Raju Naushad (Naushad's son), Ruhan Mahendra Kapoor (Mahendra Kapoor's son) and Firdaus Shahid Rafi (Rafi's grandson).

The academy will also be showcasing legend’s exclusive videos, pictures, many unused songs by him, his musical instruments etc.

Academy, a way to keep singer’s name alive
Shahid also revealed that even after his father’s death people know about him, and by opening a musical academy he wants to immortalize legendary singer’s name.

“I want his name to be remembered as long as we have music as part of our lives,” said Shahid.
