RGV focusing all his energy on ‘Department’

According to the latest buzz doing the rounds in the industry, thriller specialist Ram Gopal Verma has decided to take a break from making horror films as he now will be focusing all his energies on action film ‘Department’ that will be based on real life events.


Reportedly, film ‘Department’ is based on lives of encounter specialists cops, relationships and rivalries within police officials and their fight against crime and underworld.

A source close to the filmmaker revealed that, "‘Department’ is inspired from the real life story of encounter cops Daya Nayak and Pradeep Sawant."

Rumor also has it that RGV has roped in Sanjay Dutt for sub-inspector Daya Nayak’s role and Abhishek Bachchan for DCP of ATS Pradeep Sawant’s role in ‘Department.’

RGV, who has earlier made hit films such as Company and D-Company on mafia, is still searching for a right actor to play the role of the current Director General of Police of Mumbai, D Shivanathan.

RGV maintains a mysterious silence on ‘Department’
When RGV was contacted to comment on the rumors doing the rounds about his new venture ‘Department’, the talented filmmaker refused to confirm or deny any news related to the film.

Though, he admitted “I am working on the story of a film called Department,’ but refused the idea that it’s loosely based on real life events.

“It’s not based on any existing characters. Nothing has been finalized,” added Varma.

RGV even refused to confirm that Sanjay and Abhishek have been roped in for the main leads.

Sanjay confirmed for ‘Department’?
RGV might want keep things hidden from media but recently, Sanjay Dutt’s business manager Dharam Oberoi, confirmed that the actor has been roped in for ‘Department.’

“All I know is that Sanju sir (Sanjay Dutt) is doing Ramu’s next film. Since Ramu has directly spoken to Sanju I am not aware of the details of his role."

"The dates will be finalised once Sanju is back in India,” said Oberoi.

No such announcement has been made from Abhishek’s side, though.
