Big B receives Lifetime Achievement Award at Asian Film Festival

The legend, 'the man who defines Bollywood himself', Amitabh Bachcha, received his 9th Lifetime Achievement Award at 4th Asian Film Festival held in Hongkong on Monday night.


Popularly known as the 'angry young man' of Indian Cinema, the veteran actor has more than 100 films, 3 National awards, 13 Filmfare and several other awards and honours to his credit.

Lifetime for Bachchan
“The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes film professionals whose works have made a lasting impact of outstanding artistic, cultural and commercial significance to the cinema,” said Shaw Soo Wei, executive director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.

“No one is more deserving to receive this award than the legendary Amitabh Bachchan,” Shaw added.

Bachchan was given this award for his outstanding contribution for more than four decades to Indian Cinema and giving it a recognition worldwide.

The legendary actor is ecstatic. “It just got over! The pride and passion and honor of a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 4th Asian Awards ceremony here at the Exhibition center in Hong Kong,” he wrote on his blog.

The Asian Film Awards are given each year by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society to honour the excellence in the Asian film industry.A total of 14 awards and 3 special awards were given at this year's Film Festival.

Amitabh joins 'Save Tiger' Campaign
Recently, the megastar showed a thumbs up to the 'Save Tiger' Project.

He said “The tiger is symbolic of India’s wildlife wealth. It is in danger because of rampant poaching and the ineffectiveness of our system to stop its killing. Collective action is the need of the hour."

Since the Campaign requires to bring up issues related to the critically endangered National Animal, the actor's support would count hugely.

Aamir wants to direct Amitabh Bachchan
Aamir, who turned 45 this year has showed his desire to work with Amitabh Bachchan.

“I have always been a big fan of Amitabh. I have been looking forward to getting the chance to work with him for a number of years now. So far, the right thing has not come up. I’m hoping that it will happen soon.”

The actor further added, “I will be thrilled to direct Amitabh Bachchan. He is a great actor and I would really cherish the chance to do that. But the material has to be right. It should be something that excites both of us.”
