According to tabloids, she wants the role not just because of the professional reasons but also because she’s hopelessly smitten by the charming Ranbir Kapoor, who is playing the male lead in “Rockstar.”

However, Imtiaz Ali wanted to cast Katrina Kaif because of her amazing chemistry with Ranbir and because the script demanded a girl with Kashmiri looks and excellent command over spoken Hindi.

Anushka, who’s currently shooting for a Yashraj film with Shahid Kapur, will be spending six straight months shooting with handsome hunk Ranbir, if chosen for “Rockstar.”

From looks to language, so far everything seems to be going pretty much in Anushka’s favor and as per insiders reports she’s close to winning the main lead in “Rockstar.”

Imtiaz, is known for sticking with his vision irrespective of any kind of pressure from anyone.

The director had refused to cast Saif’s girlfriend Kareena in “Love Aaj Kal” because he thought Deepika Padukone suited the character better.

According to sources, he has already put away the thought of casting Katrina opposite Ranbir. This could also go hugely in favor of Anushka.

According to tabloid reports, Priyanka Chopra is the only one who knew from the very beginning that Ranbir and Katrina are an item.
