Rahman to compose music for Karunanidhi’s song


<strong>Chennai, January 30 --</strong> According to latest tabloid reports, Oscar winner A.R. Rahman has been roped in by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to compose music for his song.


Reportedly, Karunanidhi’s song will be opening the theme song for the World Tamil Classical Conference, scheduled for Coimbatore in June 2010.

Music maestro Rahman visited Karunanidhi on Thursday to discuss CM’s special song for the music conference.

Stylish-director Shankar has also been roped in by the CM for creating his penned down song. Many other eminent personalities are to work for the CM.

Rahman, known as the Mozart of Madras, thanked Karunanidhi for recommending his name for the Padma Bhushan Awards.

As per the tabloid reports, other than Karunanidhi and Rahman, the meeting was attended by CM’s wife Rajathi Ammal, well-known lyrists Javed Akhtar, Deputy Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, chairman of Sun Television Network Kalanithi Maran and singer Bombay Jayashree.

Rahman set to rock Grammy’s
A R Rahman told Karunanidhi Thursday that one of his songs have been nominated for the ‘Best Song’ category at the coveted ‘Grammy Awards.’

He said, "I will be leaving for Los Angeles tonight to take part in Grammy proceedings."

Apart from ‘Best Song’ category Rahman has also been nominated in the category of ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack Album’ for critically acclaimed movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire.”

On Rahman’s achievement, Karunanidhi wished Rahman “all the best” and said, "I am hopeful that you would bring home Grammy award too."

Last year Rahman won two Oscars and a Golden Globe for his super hit soundtrack ‘Jai Ho’.
