Shreyas and Mahie's search for a gun

<strong>Chandigarh, August 31:</strong> With no starry tantrums and an earnest desire to talk about their work, Shreyas Talpade and Mahie Gill were in town yesterday, at the PVR Centra Mall for the promotion of their upcoming film, ‘Aage Se Right’ which is scheduled to release on Sept. 4 this year.

Directed by Indrajit Nattoji and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film is a satire on the chaotic times that we live in. Shreyas plays the role of a cop, Dhinkar Waghmare, who loses his gun just four days before the Police Day function and tries to search for his gun.

Through the promotional campaign, too, Shreyas tries to look for his gun in each city he is visiting. For this very reason, he was seen dressed as a cop while promoting his film in the city.

Shreyas's views on movies, roles and the business of movies
He says, “If an actor can invest a year in shooting for the film, there’s no harm spending a month in its promotion. The changing cinema needs this too.” He adds, “You have to try new means.”

The actor says that the gun is a symbol of all the ills, like corruption, violence etc. and by way of trying to find it, the character finds himself in the film.

The talented actor doesn’t want to get typecast, that is why he chose a comic flick like this even when he got recognition through his serious roles in Iqbal, Apna Sapna, Money Money.

But the actor knows that making people laugh is a difficult task, besides being very challenging. Shreyas believes that in today’s time, the script is the hero wherein the actors live characters.

Not many people know that Shreyas started his career by acting in many Marathi soap operas before entering into Bollywood.

He got accolades for his performance in Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Iqbal’, his first Hindi movie, wherein he played the role of a deaf and dumb youngster aspiring to become a cricketer.

Apart from this film, Shreyas will be next seen in David Dhawan’s situational comedy based on the lines of ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, 'Hook Ya Crook', 'Season’s Greetings' and 'Mirch'.

City's own Mahie Gill
Mahie Gill, Shreyas’s co-star in ‘Aage Se Right’, hails from the city itself, and coming back to the City Beautiful was like homecoming for her.

A known name in Punjabi films, Mahie made her Bollywood presence felt with the character of modern-day paaro in Dev-D, co-starring Abhay Deol.

In ‘Aage Se Right’, she is playing the role of Soniya Bhatt, a television crime news reporter who is chirpy, glamorous and adds that extra masala to the news and to Dhinkar Waghmare’s (Shreyas Talpade) life.

But the actress has one complaint with director Indrajit Nattoji. That she didn’t get much to work with Shreyas onscreen.

Despite that, she gushes that the film has an intelligent plot and is more of a situational comedy like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ with a message. Like her co-star Shreyas, even Mahie believes that doing a comic act is certainly difficult.

Next, she will be seen in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Pan Singh Tomar’ co-starring Irfan Khan. It’s a true epic journey of a talented runner who turns into a rebel.
