Independence Day brings Victory for Sreeram

The most awaited result for the popular music reality show ‘Indian Idol 5’ was announced on Aug.15 and ‘Desh Ki Janta’ has crowned its favourite finalist Sreeram Chandra, a Tollywood singer, as ‘Indian Idol 5’. As most of us knew that he was the most deserving contestant, the decision was apt.

Sreeram defeated Gujarat’s Bhoomi and Agra’s Rakesh to win the title of ‘Indian Idol 5’.

Sreeram had always given consistent performances and from day one, he was the favourite of the audience and judges. With his dedication, passion, commitment and singing talent, he proved himself to be a versatile singer.

On the grand finale, many special guests, Richa Sharma, Kailash Kher, Shankar Mahadevan, Alisha Chenoy and hot and sizzling actress Kareena Kapoor graced the occasion with their presence. The Bollywood superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan was the chief guest for the evening.

The winner of ‘Indian Idol 5’ was awarded with the cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a bike, a car, a one year contract with Sony BMG and a chance to sing in one of the upcoming projects of Yash Raj Films.

All the contestants celebrated the 64th Independence Day with their beautiful and lovely patriotic performances on ‘Vande Matram’.

The only female finalist, Bhoomi Trivedi was selected as the new Radio Jockey for the India’s no.1 radio station ‘Radio Mirchi’.

Before entering the reality show, Sreeram had sung few Telugu songs. He has also recorded a duet song with Shreya Ghosal for Salim- Suleman’s film.

The top three contestants got the life time chance to play Kaun Banega Crorepati with Amitabh Bachchan but the roles were reversed. For the first time Amitabh Bachchan sat on hot seat and answered the three questions asked by the finalists.

On this occasion, Mr. Bachchan recited a poem that he had written in praise of the three finalists and judges. His poem brought tears in eyes of the contestants and judges.

After Sreeram’s name was declared by the Bollywood veteran Mr. Bachchan, he thanked the audience and judges with gratitude and love for supporting and voting for him.

Now, all the Indian Idol lovers have to wait for next year to witness ‘Indian Idol 6’.
