Bollywood stars recently converged in at the Venetian resort in Macau to celebrate a decade of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards and came back with some abhorrent controversies.

The most talked-about was the one involving Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.

Priyanka Chopra was publically humiliated by Ashutosh Gowariker, director of her next film ‘What’s Your Rashee?’, after she collected the award for the Best Actress for ‘Fashion’.

Gowarikar, who was adjudged the Best Director for ‘Jodhaa Akbr’, expressed dismay at Priyanka’s honor because HE believed Aishwarya Rai, oh pardon me..Bachchan, should have gotten the award (for her role in ‘Jodha Akbar’).

“Priyanka, I love you, but I don't know how you got the award for Best Actress when Aishwarya was also nominated in the same category for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’,” said Gowarikar, further giving his own presumptuous explanation: “Maybe it is because you are very hard-working and she is a natural”.

Yes, Mr. Gowarikar, Aishwarya is a ‘natural’ and I am the queen of England. Gosh, you must have some real mettle to talk crap in front of such huge audience.

The Bachchan-bahu sat though the ceremony with the most plastic smile pasted on her visage. Her nose-wrinkling spasms and those pelvic-jerks were reserved for the Junior Bachchan’s performance.

Aishwarya could be rightly natural at portraying characters because that is what she always does. She always appears on television as someone who is trying to fit into one character or the other. Either she is acting like a beauty queen or the wonderful wifey of Abhishek Bachcan or the perfect Bachchan-bahu, who cannot stop beaming about her illustrious family.

The picky, pretentious act that Aishwarya dons for all interviews, complete with that fake-accent and irksome giggles, is a real put-off but well, that’s natural for some. Suddenly the drawn out statements break into what is possibly the most annoying laughter on this planet.

Getting back to Mr. Gowarikar, whose silly assertion of his opinion on the ‘Best Actress’ sparked this scrutiny on Aishwarya: Soon after making that degrading remark on Priyanka, the filmmaker realized his goof-up and tried to share the blame with the senior Mrs. Bachchan, who stood right next to him.

Jaya Bachchan, according to Gowarikar, had also demanded an explanation on Priyanka’s Best Actress trophy when Aishwarya was also in the running.

Now, Mommy Bachchan does not surprise us. She has often expressed fondness for her darling bahu, declaring how the STAR Aishwarya has molded into their family atmosphere and how delighted she is to have the ex- Miss World in her family.

And then they compain about invasion of privacy.

Abhishek Bachchan recently said in an interview how, more than an year after their marriage, he still revels in the fact that he wakes up next to Aishwarya Rai. The sentiments were immediately reciprocated by Aishwarya, who said, "Me too! It's just wonderful to wake up next to each other". YAWN!!
